ULTRA HIGH-TEMPERATURE HEAT PUMPS

A significant share of energy consumption for heating and cooling used in industry, buildings and space heating continues to rely on fossil fuels. A large share of this heat can be supplied by high-temperature heat pumps (HTHPs) that reduce energy consumption by 50-70% compared to fossil boilers.

Industrial heat pumps are cost-effective solutions for generating heat and cold by absorbing thermal energy from low-temperature heat sources like waste heat or air and water. HTHPs generate more heat using a portion of electricity than direct conversions like electric boilers. HTHPs can directly produce high pressure steam, making them an efficient and cost-effective solution for heating and cooling.

Waste heat can be captured as a free by-product in the form of steam, or it requires a cooling tower that cools the heat before it is blown into the air. Greater energy efficiencies can be leveraged with heat pumps enabling simultaneous heating and cooling.

IMPLEMENTATION


Heating capacity: 250 kW to 1MW per module. Multiple modules can be combined for larger capacities.

Source temp: -30°C (-22°F) to 130°C (266°F).

Power, steam line and water circuit. Bypasses costly retrofit engineering.

Standardized & modular unit: easy, containerized installation and automatic operations.

The HoegTemp heat pump measures 3m x 4m x 2m high (9 ft x 12 ft x 6 ft).

The 2.5m (8ft) height for service space bypasses need to build a special technical room.

HoegTemp requires minimal assembly and installation (approx. one day), and eight hours yearly maintenance on site.

The HoegTemp high temperature heat pump is replacing the use of gas in the steam boiler and by this reduces the overall carbon footprint of IVAR biogas plant Grødeland.
